UAE Denies Rumours of Lifetime Golden Visa for Indians and Other Nationalities

Abu Dhabi, UAE | July 9, 2025
– The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has officially denied all rumours and circulating reports suggesting the introduction of a lifetime Golden Visa for Indian citizens and other foreign nationals. In a statement issued today, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) clarified that no such provision exists under the current UAE residency laws.

The clarification comes after widespread reports on social media and some online platforms falsely claimed that Indian nationals could soon apply for a "lifetime" Golden Visa, granting them permanent residency status without renewal.

Official Clarification from UAE Authorities

Quashing these reports, the ICP stated:

"The Authority confirms that all news circulating regarding the lifetime validity of the Golden Visa for some nationalities, including Indians, is incorrect and baseless. The Golden Visa remains valid for the periods specified under current regulations."

The UAE Golden Visa program, launched in 2019, grants long-term residency permits ranging from 5 to 10 years to investors, entrepreneurs, professionals, researchers, and outstanding students. The visa is subject to periodic renewal, depending on the applicant's continued eligibility.

No Special Nationality-Based Lifetime Eligibility

Contrary to the viral claims, no nationality, including Indian passport holders, has been granted lifetime eligibility. The UAE emphasized its visa policy is merit-based, focusing on professional excellence, business investments, and exceptional talent—regardless of an individual's nationality.

This clarification is particularly relevant given the strong economic and cultural ties between the UAE and India. Indians make up one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE, contributing significantly to its economy, especially in sectors such as IT, healthcare, construction, and retail.

What is the UAE Golden Visa?

The Golden Visa is a special residency scheme that offers the following benefits:

  • Long-term residency (5 or 10 years)

  • Sponsorship for family members and domestic staff

  • No requirement for a local sponsor

  • Continued residency even if the holder spends extended periods outside the UAE

Eligibility is granted to individuals meeting specific criteria in investment, entrepreneurship, science, engineering, medicine, arts, and academia.

Public Advisory on False News

The UAE government has urged the public to rely only on official government portals and verified media outlets for immigration-related information. Individuals are advised to verify visa policies through the ICP's official channels or authorized visa application centers.
