Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey has publicly criticized filmmaker Anurag Kashyap over his past participation in protests against the Mandal Commission recommendations, labeling Kashyap's actions as disrespectful to Brahmin sentiments.
Satish Chandra Dubey, the Minister of State for Coal and Mines and a BJP leader from Bihar, expressed his disapproval of Anurag Kashyap's involvement in the 1990s protests against the Mandal Commission's recommendations. Dubey emphasized that such actions are offensive to the Brahmin community and undermine the principles of social justice.
Anurag Kashyap's Apology and Clarification
In response to the backlash, Anurag Kashyap issued an unconditional apology for his participation in the anti-Mandal protests during his teenage years. He stated, "My tweet in response to an accusation about me, where I talked about having participated in Mandal commission protests, has offended a lot of people. I unconditionally apologise for the teenager that I was and I totally stand for the rights and reservations for SC/ST/OBC."
Kashyap further clarified that his views have evolved over time and he now fully supports affirmative action policies aimed at uplifting marginalized communities.
Political and Public Reactions
The controversy has sparked discussions across political and social platforms. While some support Dubey's stance, emphasizing the importance of respecting community sentiments, others appreciate Kashyap's willingness to acknowledge and apologize for his past actions.
